Welcome NCC!

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is the country’s largest national land conservation organization. Since 1962, NCC has helped to protect more than 2.6 million acres across the country. G Strategic was thrilled to be asked to create a visual identity for “Time for Nature”, an initiative challenging Canadians to incorporate nature into their summer vacation plans, and then to share those experiences, through the Time for Nature website: www.natureconservancy.ca/timefornature. Whether it be hiking, birding, camping, canoeing, or simply exploring the nature in your backyard or neighbourhood, each Time for Nature story shared on the website will inspire others to reconnect with the natural world.

Housing is a Human Right

The Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO) works for the advancement of human rights and justice in housing for low-income Ontarians through legal advice & representation, law reform, community organizing, training and education. ACTO will be hosting a “Right to Housing Symposium” in the fall to address this important issue. G Strategic is happy to have been selected to design the identity and Symposium materials for this event to raise awareness and advocate for affordable solutions for all.

Welcome Maker Junior!

Welcome Maker Junior

Cute Robot!

Do you know about the Maker Movement? Representing an extension of DIY culture, Maker Culture  aims to harness creativity and inventiveness in an ever-expanding audience bored with being passive users of technology. Typical interests enjoyed by the maker culture include engineering-oriented pursuits such as electronics, robotics, and 3-d printing. As a life-long maker of things myself, I was thrilled to be asked to do branding and design for new initiative aimed at sparking geeky creative genius in kids, Maker Junior. In this Skype video meeting screen capture, Maker Junior’s founder Alison is showing me an example of a pilot Maker Junior project.

I recently spoke at Perspectives 2013, a conference for leaders of Ontario’s Education and Training organizations hosted by ONESTEP. 2 days of stimulating conferences addressing the challenges and opportunities of a sector very much in the news these days. My presentation, entitled “Making the Business Case for Branding” used hard data and case studies to illustrate how brand valuation is big business in the  the corporate world, and that Nfp’s should think about how they value their organizational brand as well.

Day of Remembrence

Commemorating the slain women in Montreal

Commemorating the victims

I attended a moving event a few days ago – as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, Dec. 6 is a day to remember the 14 women shot to death by Marc Lépine at Ecole Polytechnique in 1989. Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter held an inspiring vigil featuring survivors, celebrities, and musical tributes to women killed and abused as a result of gender-based violence.

Opening Night with Ananya Ohri, Executive Director

We made it! After over a year of hard work and dedication to transforming the Regent Park Film Festival into something bigger, better than it was (while remaining passionately true to its committment to local communities), Opening Night was at the Daniels spectrum was a resounding success. So cool to see everything come together… can’t wait to start working on next year’s festival ;-)
